I'm Tired!

There comes a time during every adoption trip when I hit a wall. Today I hit that wall headfirst. I am tired of traveling and I am ready to come home.

I’m tired of living out of a suitcase.

I’m tired of having to use bottled water to brush my teeth.

I’m tired of having to be quiet after 8:30 p.m. because our son is asleep in a crib next to us in our small hotel room.

I’m tired of having to eat out for every meal.

I’m tired of having my favorite websites blocked (including my blog and facebook).

I’m tired of hard beds.

I’m tired of no ice cubes in drinks.

I’m tired of having to give virtual hugs and kisses through a computer screen to our children at home.

I’m tired of having to haggle over the price of every single thing I want to buy.

I’m tired of watching the same movies on HBO/same news on CNN/soccer on ESPN because they are the only channels in English.

I’m tired of wearing the same clothes every single day.

I’m tired of having to figure out the time difference every time I want to call home.

I’m tired of having to reorganize our hotel room every day after housekeeping cleans.

I’m tired.

I know I sound like a whiny, spoiled American (and maybe I am a little bit). But we left home 16 days ago, we’ve been here for 15 days, had Pudding with us for 14 days, and I am ready to go home. I’m ready for the soft comfy warmth of my own bed. I’m ready to cook my own food (however bad it may be). I’m ready to do my own laundry and have a choice about what to wear every day. I’m ready to have all four of my children with me at the same time.

Don’t get me wrong…this trip has been the experience of a lifetime. We’ve had an amazing time and this has been, by far, the easiest of all of our adoption trips. We have are so blessed to have such a beautiful, happy little boy. We are so happy we’ve been able to spend so much time in our son’s homeland. We met some wonderful people and have made some incredible memories. We will have nothing but good things to say about our time here. But right now, at this moment, I am tired and want to come home.

Mom to 2 Angels

I so remember that feeling and my heart goes out to you. You are almost there!! Pudding is adorable and I am so excited to hear that his transition is going smoothly. I can't wait to see Chipmunk, Monkey, Hot Dog, and Pudding all together :) Maybe for Halloween next year they could all dress as their blog nicknames!

Ally - I SO understand! You are in the home stretch sister - so hang on. You will be home before you know it, and all this negative ick (and that's the only word for it!) will be in the past. You are not a whiny American - you are a tired mom who has undergone a HUGE life change which is hard enough when you are in familiar surroundings - and miserable when you are not home!

Friday's coming friend!

Well, you spoiled American brat... JUST KIDDING!! :) I don't blame you one bit. I'm sure it's really hard to be away from your kiddos.

Hang in there.

Your are in the home stretch now Allison......and reading your post reminded me of how desperate I was to go home when I was with Vlad! It is completely understandable to miss the comforts of home and family. I completely appreciated all those comforts of home and family SO much more once I finally got home! Maybe you can haggle some ruby red slippers at the market and click them together 3 time while screaming HOME...HOME...HOME! Just think of all the stares then! HAHA!

I am all teary eyed right now....feeling for you and remembering that EXACT same feeling!!! You are almost home....this will feel like a blink of an eye in the midst of this journey - but I know for the moment, it's so hard to see and feel that. Hang in there - not long and you'll be in 8 little loving arms.....:) Much love

You poor thing! (Serious not sarcastic comment). I cannot imagine having to spend that much time in a foreign country, in a hotel room, and sharing it all with a new child, stroller, crib, toys, and everything else. I bet the kids are "tired" too of their adventures away from home and ready for all 6 of you to be together in the new house. Hang in there just a few more days . . .

It won't be much longer. That is what thought when we went to Kyrgyzstan to see Alek because we had left Lindze at home. We enjoyed China because it was much more pleasurable and we did not have any kids at the time to leave. You'll be holding your other kids in your arms again very soon.

Your post signals the end is near and that's good. I'm just sorry you are at wit's end. I know it's getting harder every day. Miss you so much here and can't wait to hear that you've all made it home and been reunited. BIG HUGS!!
