Crossroads

Everyone says that adoption is a leap of faith. Lately, it seems that I've lost faith that we will be bringing our daughter home from Russia. I was so hopeful that our agency would be on the newest list of accredited agencies and that things would proceed quickly. However, our agency was not on the list. They still hope to receive accreditation soon, but we've been hearing that for a year with nothing to show for it. It seems we've come to a fork in the road. We are having such a tough time deciding which path to take. One the one side we continue along our current path, waiting for accreditation and for our region to start moving. It feels like our heart is tugging us in the this direction. It is the path we know, having gone down it twice before. We know the journey, the people, the places; it is familiar and comfortable. Looking down the other side is scary and unknown; it means a new agency, a new country, new people, new paperwork. However, our heads seem to be tugging in this direction.
We have some difficult decisions to make and any good thoughts/prayers/vibes that you can send our way would be greatly appreciated.
I'll post whenever we make a decision.

Allison, This is so tough and we will be praying for you. We have not been waiting near as long as you have, but we are also concerned about our future. I'll be thinking of you.

Im so sorry that you are in a place where you are thinking about such decisions. We're praying that God would guide your path to the very child that He created to be yours, whereever she is in this great big world!

Sometimes it's hard to see one way as being the right way. I'll be praying for your decision to come with a lot of peace so you know it's the right way for your family to go.

I know what you mean! Even though we haven't waited to adopt as long as you have, we have waited 7 years now to be parents. I think we all pass the patience test. If I can help you with questions about switching agengies please, please, please email me!!

Allison,

You will absolutely be in our hearts and prayers. It is such a shame that the children in Russia are the ones who suffer as the accreditation process draws out. I, like you, was so hopeful that accreditation would come in the last batch of agencies. I know how frustrating this must be waiting over a year for your daughter and not know which direction God will lead. I think you and your family should allow God to lead you and open doors where it is meant for you to follow. If you are like me, it is hard not to question the various paths wondering which one God truly chooses for you to follow. We will pray that he sheds light and puts you at peace to make the decision that is best for your family.

Many Blessings!

I'm so with you! So frustrated! You'll be in our thoughts and prayers as you try to decide which way to go next. We're nearing the same crossroad - hoping maybe something will change before then. Hang in there!

Allison,

I really feel for you and everyone who has been waiting for accredidation for so long now. When we were trying to decide whether to accept or decline Owen's referral, we were told that whatever decision we made would be the right one, and that person was exactly right. We trusted that God would give us the strength and resources we needed to help Owen become who he is today, and He has. I pray you will have peace with whatever you decide to do. :)

I just happened upon your blog. My wife and I just two weeks ago switched agencies. We found one that uses a sister agency in Russia that is accredited. We're updating a few papers and we should be off to Russia within a month or so. Maybe you should check them out...www.kidstoadopt.org

Also, please check out my wife's blog. www.mommymap.blogspot.com
