Really??

We wanted to take advantage of the absolutely beautiful weather today so my crew and I, along with my niece and soon-to-be sister-in-law, decided to head to the zoo. We have an annual pass and go at least once a month, but this was going to be Pudding's first time and I was so excited to see his reactions. All of the kids were having such a fun time and enjoying playing on the playground. I had the two Littles at the smaller jungle gym when this older woman walked up to me and asked "Was it a buy-one-get-one free sale?" I looked around, praying she wasn't actually talking about my children; but sure enough, she was looking right at the Littles with a little smile on her face. I have to admit that I couldn't act on my first impulse because there were so many children around. I looked at her with what I'm sure was a look of disbelief on my face and walked away. Seriously? Did she really ask me that? In what world would anybody think that is an acceptable thing to say, even if it was intended as a (horrible) joke?? I'm just happy that Chipmunk wasn't around because he is definitely old enough to catch the gist of what she was implying. Uggh! I've heard my fair share of snarky/stupid/ignorant remarks about my children but the one today absolutely takes the cake. As you can see from the pictures, I didn't let her ruin one single second of fun for the kiddos but for the rest of the afternoon, I kept coming up with different answers I could have given her; of course, none of those would have been acceptable around children either!

Swing!

Hanging out with the gorillas

Maybe piano lessons are in his future?

Still needs to eat a few more bananas to catch up with the gorillas

First time swinging...I think he likes it!

P.S. For those of you that have asked, the steroids seem to be helping keep Pudding's tonsils at a manageable level so surgery has been put off until next week.

UNBELIEVABLE!!! I just do not understand people sometimes and how in their mind that seems like an OK thing to say. That makes me want to punch that lady in the face!
I'm glad you took the high road and ignored her and didn't let it ruin your day with your beautiful family!

Seriously? Even if I were STUPID enough to think something like that, I certainly could have NEVER walked up to someone and asked that question. And what's so funny to me is that I just don't SEE a lot of Asian features in Hotdog. I think you took the high road. I am not certain I would have been so nice.

Wow! That's ridiculous!

On the other hand, the kids look super happy and I'm glad to hear the tonsils have come down a bit.

WHAT?!? I would have been livid, and I'm so sorry that you had to endure such stupidity!!! I'm glad that your children didn't hear that! When our neighbor, who lives behind us, found out that we were adopting again he said, "Wow, you must really like those two if you're gonna do it again. I'm glad that we could have our own children." My kids were right there, and it was all I could do not to punch him. But I was so stunned that I stood there in silence with my mouth wide open. I told Greg that if he ever says something in front of our children again, I will NOT be silent.
So sorry that you had to endure stupidity!

People do say very offensive things--I'm just glad the older children didn't hear. I'm very glad you still managed to have a wonderful day!

OMG!! I would have wanted to kick her booty. Now I say wanted but I have a few family members who would have kicked her booty. That is so fllippin rude of her.
On a lighter side I am glad you guys had a good time.

I'm speechless...unbelievable. I'm sure your face and lack of response was more powerful than anything you might have said.

Love the pictures :)

Alison, you handled that beautifully. Idiots are everywhere, just beware of them.
So, I hadn't checked in here in a while and, um, you seem to have another kid! Wow, he is so sweet and I so, so thrilled for you guys and totally jealous! I so want another one but Zach is much more wary. I am working on him though and keep pointing out that I only want one more kid, the children are lobbying for another 3. So really, I am being reasonable. Congratulations and now please excuse me while I catch up on what I have missed since Thanksgiving, which is quite a lot by the looks of it.

That is one for the "STUPID Thoughts" Record book....and to think someone verbalized it!!!!!
It makes me soooo mad....Now that I am a parent to two rather close in age, I am hearing silly/stupid comments quite frequently...
But, glad you shared the great pics of the fun day and that you all had a great time, also glad for the tonsils shrinking a bit too.

WOW...I'm not even sure what else to say about that, except WOW...I've heard my fair share b/c my kids are so close together - what is it about people who think they have a right to make comments on your life choices? And such rude, politically incorrect comments at that - that's crazy.
On a better note - SO GLAD you continued to have a fun day. Mike and I have been talking about coming to your zoo to see the dinosaurs and do their ropes course with the kids. Have you tried that - is it fun? We'd love to meet you all there some day...Christy, Mike and Kiddos
